Flourite or another substrate?

HI, I am wondering if anyone has used flourite with loaches or any other swimmers that dig and poke around in the substrate. I am asking because I checked some out in the lfs and it seemed sharper than the round-edged gravel I currently have inthe tank. How do you feel about flourite in general? I am going to break down my tank and change the substrate in my fw tank and can't decide whether to go with sand, flourite or smaller gravel. Any thoughts?

I use a mixture of flourite and sand. My corys have healthy and long barbels. I also have great luck with root feeding plants with this substrate

If you have plants, then I would use the flourite or eco-complete or aquarium plant substrate. Only makes sense to me to plant plants in plant substrate?
It's soft for coreys.

Flourite also now makes Flourite black sand.

Best thing I've done in awile when I switched to it, the water even seems clearer.

Glad to hear everything turned out fine

I used black flourite with black larger grain sand. Sorry, but I completely forgot what type of sand I used. It was a little larger as compaired to pool sand, but still pretty close. I felt it matched the flourite better, but I can be a little OCD about these things

I use this. It's cheaper and just as good. A 5 gallon pail is just right for a 55 gallon so you can judge from there.
