It was my first day off to myself FOREVER yesterday so I did a bit of a LFS crawl, went to about 4 pet stores.

One of them is one I've never been to before. They have a great range but the tanks were filthy and many of the fish were sick. I also heard them recommending some OBSCENE things to customers. I won't be going back.

I did see this for sale though. Thinking about putting an oscar in it. What do you guys think?

Just as a size comparison, it looks like it would fit about 2 Litres in it. Don't know how many gallons that is. Half a gal maybe?

Thanks Kross, I was thinking of putting a couple of Clown Loaches and a Common Plec in there as clean up crew too -- I've done my research and know that oscars are very messy eaters.

That's about normal. Everything is expensive in NZ. You should see how much the FISH cost. The other day I saw something called a Magnus Plecostomus selling for $259.

you've got oscars in the middle, and clown loaches on the bottom. don't you think the top would look a bit empty? how about an arowana or so? good that it has a lid, arowanas can be a bit jumpy...

I sometimes wish goldfish had nice sharp teeth like Piranhas, to BITE people who stuff them into glass shoeboxes like that! Or is it plastic, or acrylic? No matter . . .

Still too much of that kind of thing out there ... Gives entirely the wrong impression.
