Watch out for black brush/beard algae on the shells. It's such a pain to remove and will spread quickly. I had it in my tang tank (until I put more plants in). Looking fantastic though...I'm so tempted to get a shellie tank again!

I'm thinking I may go with some Nerites down the road.--Maybe
Once My the White Calvus get to adulthood, which should take forever, they will be moving into my 55, which will become a multi species tang. tank.

Just checked my tank this morning before work and the 3 Red Spotted Nerite snails I put in the tank at 9pm last night cleaned half of the diatoms from the tank already. Best algae eating snails I have ever had thus far. You can see the trails they blazed on the shells and glass. lol

awesome shellie tank!!!! they are very camera friendly.

congrat on the tiger snails I love those guys they are hard workers.

Don't worry about the black spots on the java ferns. They do that for awhile until they get established in the tank. Meaning until they start growing more roots to anchor themselves. Once that happens they will become alot more bushier and might even start growing little ferns on the leaves of the mother plant.

    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

If you've been following this thread, a shellie tank is on your to do list. It's just great and it doesn't require a large tank.

Shellies is something I sometimes recommend to people wanting african cichlids but with limited space. As this tank clearly shows you can do something really nice with not much water.

Know of one guy who lived quite close to a French restaurant. He made a deal with the kitchen's staff. They saved him two weeks of escargot shells which he then boiled to get rid of the garlic smell. For the cost of a sixpack he got enough shells to do 2 tanks.
