introducing a new Blood Parrot to a tank
0
Hi
I plan to add another blood Parrot to my 90 gal. I'm thinking, however, it would be best to let the tank rest for 30 days after recovering from a recent ich episode.
I'm wondering if my existing 2 BP will accept a newbie after they've established their own territory in the tank or will they give it a hard time? Should I think about adding the new guy sooner?
And will a bare bottom QT be okay or should I provide the little guy with a rock cave or something to hide behind? I know how shy they are ... I've had these 2 for 3 weeks and they're just now starting to act like I'm not going to turn them into sushi, so I don't want to stress a new one more than necessary.
As for QT - 2 weeks? 3 weeks?
thanks so much
thanks.

I've added young with my older ones and it was fine. The youngest one kept bugging the older ones and wouldn't leave them alone so they bumped him out of the way now and then but yours are still young. I see no problem. They always appreciate hiding spots.

Great! I'm so glad you suggested those fish. They are the cutest things. I added updated photos to my journal in case you want to take a peak.
So -- QT? 2 weeks? 3 weeks?

2 weeks is way more than enough to see if Ich is going to be a problem.

Bp are very forgiving of newbies. I have added new ones to my group 3 times now with no aggression at all. As for a qt 2 weeks is fine. May want to use a dewormer while in there as well. I recall some old member here talking about that with his,,or hers, whatever.use a piece of pvs pipe big enough for it to hide.
