corys acting weird
I have 3 emerald corys in my 55g community tank and all they do is swim up and down against the glass. Is this normal??

My corys usually spend most of their time exploring the bottom and only swim upwards when they need to "breathe" from the surface.
How long have they been in there?46 gal fw tank with black skirt tetras, neon tetras, spotted cory catfish, cherry barbs, guppies, snails & 4 amano shrimp - plastic & live plants
5 gal QT with green corys & 2 guppies

Mine don't do that but I believe its because I have a sufficent amount of natural cover for them to explore and forage.

I have 6 peppered corydoras and the stay mostly at the bottom. Sometimes they will make a lap or two up and down or across the top of the water but not exclusively.

My false juliis and albino all do it. So do my guppies, I think they just like to play in the current. I have strong current and they purposefully go into it to play.

I would not worry. The one was probly so happy to see friends of his own kind that you are know seeing how they would normaly act. Try to get three more and see what happens.

My Sterbais and the Juliis I used to have all did this in a big group very often. I think it's just part of the way they socialize or "play". Either way, it's very cute.
Yours are probably doing it now because they a small school now.
EDIT: I just googled it. Apparently it's very common in young cories but they will do it less as they get older.Last edited by ameliaaahx; 10-05-2012 at 07:56 AM.

Young cories as well as adult cories in a new tank will do that. Maybe it is their way of finding the limits of their new home. The two new ones might be doing it because they are new and the third one just tags along because he's the minority.
