One thing about using the water hose from outdoors, may want to run the water in the hose a bit to flush any water that has been sitting in the hose before sticking it in your tank. I try to dump my waste water with a hose out my window as well, 3 story drop to the bushes below!

Aren't you worried about shocking the fish with a temp change from the hose water? Or is it attached to a sink...? Looked like it was maybe run out of another window but couldn't tell.

It connects to the shower head.

I think your waterchange system is fine, but I saw something with your tank that I would be VERY concerned about. It is not fully supported because it sticks off the end of the stand. This could cause a catastrophic failure and result in the entire contents of the tank spilling out onto your floor. Tanks need to be fully supported on the bottom. You need to get a stand that fits.

Kingfisher: Yes, completely agreed. A stand is actually the next thing on my agenda. It worries us quite a bit.

The tank hangs off each end about 2 inches, (yikes!). I tell you it was REALLY nerve racking when we moved it to paint the back.

    In that case, excellent system!

Edit: a thick and sturdy piece of plywood under the tank would probably do the job. Home depot sells little 2 foot by 4 foot pieces of very thick plywood for cheap ish.

Lol, I've never even seen a Home Depot. My whole town is considered 'in the sticks'. BUT that is a good idea.
