Adding a filter

Thinking of adding a 2nd filter to our 20 gallon tank before we add any more fish. I have been using aqadvisor.com to help with figuring out what my tank can hold and such and it is recommending more filtration before adding any more fish. We currently have a marineland penguin 150. I was thinking of adding an additional penguin 100 which would for sure cover what I need but is there something else I should think hard about going for? Or staying away from? I was wanting to to go the 2 filter route since my tank is cycled and I don't want to lose what is on the bio wheel in my current filter.

I'm a big fan of using multiple filters on a tank. I would suggest adding a second one, but I would recommend a AC50 or AC30 instead. You can add a second filter without having to worry about it negatively effecting the exsisting filter.

If I keep my penquin 150 and added an AC50 I would have plenty of filtration but would that cause a crazy amount of water movement? And if so is that bad for the fish?

We have black neon tetras, serpae tetras, and julii cats. Thinking about adding some cardinal tetras or some harlequin rasboras.

That might be too much current with that AC50 even with the flow turned down with the fish you have. An AC30 might be a better choice for a second filter.

Cliff, at what volume does one switch from one or two HOB's to a Canister Filter or one of each?
