Do you know the type of wood you used, and was it alive when you found it. I am asking for my own purposes, not to judge you :)

Sorry, but I have no idea :/ I found it in a creek in Vermont and then cleaned it thoroughly. And now for the pics (which are inexcusably late, I know).

So I set up the second filter, nothing too exciting here, but useful nonetheless... blue pad, media, blue pad and done!

Instead of a strainer on the intake, I put a sponge, works well, no issues.

On to the tank, here we've got the first batch of rasboras, and excitingly enough, I saw them spray(?) some eggs today... very cool:

My betta has been hanging out in here too, I'm sure he appreciates the space:

An oto cat here on some driftwood, you can see that there is plenty of algae in the tank now:

Speaking of algae:

Anyone know how to get rid of this stuff? I've been looking for a true SAE, but they are hard to come by... I threw some amanoes in last night, hopefully they'll start munching away.

Have I forgotten anything?

I wouldn't say I'm overall thrilled with the growth I've seen in the 90, especially when compared to the 29, but I was dosing carbon and had DIY CO2 running in the little tank which I'm sure played a big factor...

I think I'll work on getting a pH meter and a CO2 tank going next...

Very impresive.

As for the growth on the wood, if it is fungus (looks like it to me), no fish will touch it and you will have to remove it.

The tank looks great. I'll keep an eye out for a SAE for you being as I only live about 45mins from you. One place that I know has an incredible stock is The Shark Aquarium in Hillside, NJ on Rt.22W. It's next to a gas station. They have the most amount/varied stock I've ever seen. It's worth a look. I'll see if I can dig up the # for you.

That furry looking brown/black stuff is the dreaded black beard algae (or black brush algae). Scrub it off and hoover up the debris. It's a real pain to get rid of (and tough to get off branches) but you don't want it to spread.

I get the odd tiny patch in my tank but I'm on it like a hawk when I notice it.

And make sure you do not scrub it off in the tank because the spores will go everywhere. 19 water 1 part bleach. I just got rid of some of that in my tank as well. PITA
