    Hi I was just wondering if anybody could id my catfish please. I have forgot what it was advertised as in my lfs

    It's one of the Synodontis spieces possibly Schoutedeni but it looks even more attractive than that fish.

    definitely a synodontis catfish of some kind.

    It's scientific name is Synodontis Lucipinnis, sorry I can't find a common name.

    Thanks for the Id I think my lfs had it advertised as a pictus or something like that! I shall try and find some more info on them, I think it is a beautiful catfish and the pics don't do it justice

    Oh one last question do you know how I can tell if it's a male or female ( i keep calling him little man lol) and if I should keep it in a group or pair or leave it on him/her by itself?

    Some synos are good in groups, many are perfectly happy alone. 100% not a pictus variety
    My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

    Thought it was a petricola but the pattern was different.

    I had a 3 petricolas for a while and they are amazing fish. I had to get rid of them though I didn't think they got very big but I saw one the other day almost a foot long. But anyway I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed mine!
