    Lightbulb My little experiment

    0 Not allowed!
I'm interested in trying out some bacteria additives to help cycle my tank. I plan to use Tetra Safe Start because I've read it's the most reliable bacteria. Also, Seachem Stability is supposed to help detoxify ammonia and nitrite, so I'll be using this as well to help prevent my fish from feeling so much stress. My cousin gave me the Stability and the bottle is over half full and it doesn't expire until 2014(according to the bottle). I dumped the whole bottle of SafeStart in about an hour ago and I'll add 1 tablespoon of Stability every morning for a week as per instructions. This is just a little experiment I want to try and I decided to share my experience with the community. Updates to follow.

Use the boosters just as you are supposed to use them.......read the directions.

You don't need both boosters at the same time either. Make sure you use dechorinator, as well. There really is no reason to just dump a whole bottle of anything in the tank all at once.

The SafeStart says to use an entire bottle. I was under the assumption they had different functions.(TSS to add beneficial bacteria, Stability to detoxify some ammonia). I'm using the Stability because I'm not supposed to do water changes while the TSS is doing it's thing. And I'm using well water so I have no need for de-chlorinator. However, I have read that Prime serves other functions as well.

Are you trying to see how quickly you'll cycle the tank?
