It's always hit-or-miss with bettas, depending on the personality of the individual betta. Some can be kept in a community, others will attack anything that moves. I've got at least one of each in my swarm... Sunstreaker and Rainbow are the mean ones, Comet is the calm one. I'm bettas-only, so other fishkeepers here would be better suited to helping with which fish could or should not be kept with bettas.

New Pictures!
Shadow taking a nap under his castle... Look at that feathery little pectoral!

Gem the DTPK giving me the "evil fisheye" after a water change. The blurry spots are bubbles on the side of the tank, the bright silver flecks on his side are bubbles that got knocked off the plants and stuck in his slime coat. Makes him look like he's been swimming through glitter

Ruby and Echo hanging out together. This is also the last picture I have of Echo... She passed away from undetermined causes the morning after this picture was taken

Rainbow making use of his hide. Mom bought this tank ornament for me when she was in a good mood one evening, and she is always tickled when Rainbow uses it

Sunstreaker the Formerly Golden. I really have no clue what happened here... He just slowly lost all his color. He's still perfectly healthy and as grouchy as ever, and his tank gets cleaned regularly... He's just... colorless. It's weird o.0
I was lucky to get this picture... Sunny is the biggest camera-phobe I got, and goes ballistic when he sees it. He will not hold still for that one instant it takes for the camera to take the picture

Cloud posing for the camera. Look at that pectoral ^w^ For some reason I find the itty-bitty ventral fins of female bettas and feathery pectorals in general unbearably cute >>;;;

These are lovely pics...such great bettas!I'm kind of in love with them now too.
So sorry to hear about Echo. I wonder if the color changing was somehow related to what caused her demise. Sweet girl.Beth

3 - 10 to 20 gallon planted betta tanks
My advice: slow down, think, and be willing to learn. Then you'll be fine, no matter what.
