  1. Default About to buy lighting, want to double check what I need

Hey guys, making my 29 gallon tank.

Many things have been ordered, last thing I need to get equipment wise is my lighting.

So, here is my plan. I'm making a heavily planted low tech aquascape with no co2. So that means I will only be using low light plants. Shooting for 1.5-2watts per gallon.

    Would this be sufficient?

(I'm guessing it is because it was recommended before)

Now my second question is what bulbs? The one above comes with a 10k strip and this pinkish strip. What should I be going for?

    Thanks.

edit: One more thing. Since my tank is 29g long I'd try to find a fixture that is 30" long right? The thing is, where do I get 30" bulbs?? I only see them at 24" and 36"

    Really?
Huh, thought that 48 watts would be low enough :P

I'll look for other things then

So after doing research it seems I've been going at this wrong, and watts don't matter, PAR does.

So I was thinking, what if I went with a dual t5no fixture instead? Would that work?

if you can find dual NOs then it worth trying it. i think that will give you a medium light which SHOULD be fine, and give you the oppertunity to add other plants if/when you want them

Ordered a coral life dual t5no setup.

Question though. is 6700k or a 6500k better for plants?

And also, what light gives the best viewer experience? I'm guessing it is 10k, but I just want to make sure.

Actual 'daylight' is 6500K but 6700K will make no discernible difference.

"Best" is subjective but having said that; Many do prefer the 10K lighting since it is a bit warmer and less yellow. This is why you often see people using both a 6500 and 10K bulb in a two bulb fixture, Best of both worlds .

Yep that is my plan. One for the plants, one for us.

So 10k looks good then? Sweet.
