  1. Default Building more bio filtration.

I've added more fish to my tank recently and was worried about the ammonia and nitrate and nitrite levels in my tank. I've been doing water changes a couple times a week. Is frequent water changes harmful? And am I over doing it.?

Frequent water changes are good for your fish. Depending on your filter setup you may be able to add more bio media. What type of filter do you have?

I have an aquaeon rated for 40 gallons, and a top fin brand rated for 20 gallons. I replaced the top fin's cartridge with a nylon mesh bag of fluval biomax, I'm hoping that helps.

Take out the charcoal filter if it's still in there and add some more biomax. More is always better.
