Tank#5
Tank #5 is ready to go, My wife, Rose has claimed it, and she is thinking about South American Cichlids. Any advice as opposed to Africans, which I have kept successfully for 5 years. Brackish? PH?

Not brackish, and generally pH between 6-7. What fish in particular you looking at? Size of tank is it?
My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

For a 29G you should be looking at Dwarf Cichlids. There are quite a few to choose from. GBR's, Bolivian Rams, Several Apistogramma species. Another to look at would be Kribensis, they are a dwarf species from Africa but their care is the same as SA cichlids.
Ones to totally pass on in the store are - Oscars, Severums, Firemouths, Blood Parrots, Jack Dempseys, Convicts etc
Your 29G, if set up properly, could house 1 or 2 Dwarf cichlids
edit; Heres my old GBR
my male Krib
and my Apistogramma cacatuoide

Great pics on your dwarfs ScottishFish! They are so colorful!
I vote for the Dwarf cichlids as well. I have an EBR and he is amazing. Full of personality, active and bright bright blue.
Take a look at the LFS and see which Dwarf species they have.
But do not purchase any until the cycle is complete on your tank-they are fairly sensitive and wouldn't want you to lose any because of a rough time during a fish IN cycle.
