apple snails & calicum

Hi first post here. Ive read that calcuim is necessary for healthy apple snail development and shell Health. I'm planning on purchasing calcium citrate powder and adding it to the water. My question is will this method work & how much calcium powder should I add per gallon? Any other methods are welcome. I have a community tank with other fish as well. thanks

As you are asking about FW snails, I have moved your thread to the correct section of the forum

I would not recommend dosing your tank with calcium. This is a trace element in fresh water. No telling what type of side effects this could have.

I have always had good luck offering calcium rich foods to my apples snails. There shells always seam health and they grew pretty fast as well. The below thread can provide you with a list of good food options for your snail that are also high in calcium. That would be a far better approach for your snail to get calcium

I used to make snail jello for mine. Basically a calcium rich baby food mixed with gelatin and a calcium supplement. There are dozens of recipes on the web.
