Black Spots appearing on back and fin.

Hi Members ,
I have a back yard pond with 11 goldfish in it ,
I started with 5 and they have grown and bred .

1 of them has developed black spots on it's back and on its dorsal fin.
it appears happy and healthy and has not lost energy or appetite and none of the other 10 fish have it ...yet.

My pond is very self maintaining and is fed by rain off a shed roof , we have had rain recently and the water is good , I have a fountain in the pond which keeps the oxygen up.

Advise please .

Black spots on goldfish can actually be a sign of the fish healing. It could have been injured, it could of had ammonia burn, which pops up from time to time in goldfish, or it could have been handled a little rough at one time or another. Other things that can cause it, is low pH, or once again healing, but from wounds caused by a parasitic infestation, such as skin flukes. These black spots can be a mixture of large and smaller spots.

You can then move on to something nasty. Black spots of around 2mm in diameter can be a sign of parasitic activity. Pond fish, can be prone to flukes, and those small black spots are where the fluke larvae are attacking the fish. Those black spots can be anywhere on the fish. Fins, body, mouth, gills.

Black spots will appear on goldfish as they grow older and larger. If nothing else is wrong with it, and the spots are REALLY black, with no fuzzy stuff coming out of it or anything whatsoever, it probably just means that it's growing. This is assuming, of course, that you have already ruled out ammonia and healing wounds.
