Hey Kev, yeah they are not a public store, they are a private distrubutor that you have to have a license to enter. I just know a guy who owns so I tag along and help.

Petsmart and Petco (this is coming from what the aquatic managers have told me, I knew them very well) both are required by top brass to keep salt content in their tanks. They are usually all on one big filter where water goes to all tanks. They just plop and drop after floating the bags. They dont care about losses because they get refunds for anything that dies in 24 hours. Sometimes they girl at petco would even fudge to 72 hours. Plus they give a 2 weeks live guaruntee policy...

Yeah, I know about the 14day guarantee... It's unfortunate that they keep their fish in such shoddy conditions. ;/ I wonder if they all do that or it depends on the general managers.

Welcome back Kevin! That is one handsome boy you've got there. :) So cute when they're all shiny and new.

Mine is covered in dirt so much that I forget what he looks like at times. Haha!

Glad to see a picture of Noah!! Just thought I'd comment and tell you guys that if you're looking for plants, and Kevin has them and is sending out extras you guys should definitely get some. I received my shipment of Red Root Floaters today and of about 30 plants, 20 of them survived and are now in a breeder box in my tank so they aren't disturbed by my HOB filters.

I just talked to Gunpowder Aquatics about the Black Ruby Barbs. Since they're familiar with them, I asked how many they'd recommend for a 75gal tank. They send 12-15 would be perfect, but no more than that. So, I'm going to go with 12 (that's putting my stock at about 98% anyway). I bought my SAEs from Gunpowder Aquatics (they're a breeder in FL) and they were packaged perfectly, arrived in healthy condition and they're flourishing in my tank, so I feel very confident that these guys should be in great health, as well. They ship on Tuesdays, so I should get them next week, around Thursday or so, via Priority Mail.

    Can't wait!

Well, I bit the bullet again, and decided to buy 20 RCS... I'm trying them again. This time, however, I plan to grow them out in my Rabbit snail tank and try to breed them along with the rabbit snails. When I've got a good population going, I'm going to try introducing some of the larger shrimp into the 75gal, now that I have a seemingly heavily planted tank again. I know the Killifish will probably try to eat them again, which is why I'm growing them out in the Rabbit snail tank. My hope is that I'll be able to introduce a dozen or so into the 75gal, eventually, and if things go well, they'll be able to hide and reproduce. I'm sure the deaths via killifish will round out their numbers, but enough should survive to keep the population going. Either way, I'll have two populations going at once. I'm also thinking of starting up a nano tank in the near future, as well, so I'll be able to add some to that, too. We'll see how it goes!

So, I should get the RCS on Monday/Tuesday, and the Black Ruby Barbs on Thursday or Friday. Going to be a good fish keeping week. =]

I also made a startling discovery today... the algae that I have, which I've been calling Staghorn is actually not Staghorn. It's Cladophora. I feel like I knew that before for some reason and then started calling it Staghorn algae. Anyway, it's kind of a double-edged sword. Nothing eats Cladophora (except flies and scuds - which I'll obviously not be utilizing), but it's the same algae that Marimo balls consist of. That makes sense, because when you remove this algae, it feels like a moss and you can roll it up into a ball, spread it out, etc. Marimo balls are good for an aquarium, because they do a good amount of filtering. Cladophora has the same effect, so I'm pleased that it's a good algae, but displeased with its' appearance and the fact that it's spread all over my one piece of driftwood.

Thanks Judi. I appreciate that. =]

I'm going to make it a point to tell PetSmart about their Tetras. It's not right that people should have to deal with this kind of crap.

Nice Steeler! When are we going to see your tanks?! ;P
