Well, I went home at lunch and saw some healthy looking tanks. I did, however, find a dead fish in the 75gal that's been stripped to the bones... and then out of the corner of my eye, I saw a Krib attack a cory. That was odd behavior, because usually everyone gets along. I checked the hole that they started to dig last week and it was actually covered up again... then I looked to the left and saw the female hovering around a plant. Right next to the plant, in a shallow ditch in the substrate, were Krib fry! There were dozens of them, that were not free-swimming yet.
I knew they were upto something when they started digging a hole last week, but figured their eggs would have been eaten. I noticed a lot of vibrations from that one spot and it appears there are tails sticking out of eggs. So, I suppose this will be the point where they consume the egg sack, then are free-swimming. I'll get a vid tonight. =]

I'm sure many will try, Matt. ;P You haven't seen a protective parent, until you've seen a cichlid protecting their fry. It's like you taking Lauren out on the town and every passer by is a potential threat, so you chase them off or punch them in the face... regardless of their motives.
