Wow, I'm sorry Judi. That's terrible news on your latest loss. I think I can sympathize with how you probably felt. You do everything you can and try everything you're told, and nothing you've done seems to help... helpless. I've been there a couple of times. I hope things turn around for you soon.

Same goes, Judi. The LAST thing I would ever have thought would happen is that your discus would bully each other to the point of death. Or that they'd attack the other fish.
They are strange and beautiful creatures for certain.

Looking forward to seeing photos! And glad to hear from you again.

Hopefully soon I'll be moving my cardinals, rummys and remaining Corys to the 45 as the discus have also taken out several of the tetras (cardinals) also.
I would not worry about moving the remaining Cory's to your 45g, here's a good comment on the subject in this thread from my friend Madagascariensis: http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aqua...d.php?t=117244.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Damm.....

    Sorry, segueing into another realm:

I was just reading up on RCS conversation in the classifieds section and it reminded me of something. If you remember, I added shrimp caves to the 40B a few days ago. Unfortunately, it looks like all of my RCS are gone, but snails started to take up residence in there. Well, yesterday, I noticed one of my male BNs sticking his head in there and today I was home for lunch and noticed he was sticking his whole body through. lol The caves are not along a wall or anything and they're really small... maybe about 1" in diameter and 3" long. It's hilarious, because his head is sticking out on one end and his tail in the other.

I've seen him get out before, so I know it's safe for him, but I couldn't help but double-take and laugh at this. If he's doing it again tonight, I'll try to get a picture. lol

Per, there was a time if I could have given you the pairs I would have...my luck I would get more discus and end up with more flippin pairs!!! Seriously, I've read so much of people never getting discus to pair and I as a beginner end up with THREE pairs.

Thanks Kev, I know here people understand the loss, the effort that goes into treatment and the fact that sometimes there is nothing you can do but try.

The bullying is difficult to watch but it's just their nature, in the wild a fish can swim away in a tank there's really no where to go, especially when multiple pairs have claimed territories. Once they have laid eggs any fish that comes into that territory is fair game, I don't think they mean to kill intentionally but the corys are just so small compared to the discus and unfortunately the Adolfoi are so darn fearless and want to be everywhere and well the cardinals are tiny...

Right now I have only one pair sectioned off with egg crate and the remaining discus even though there are still 2 pairs are at the least sharing the environment without much more than the usual pecking order stuff. All are eating well, no one is showing any signs of being stressed and I'm finally able to sleep without worrying toooooooo much

I'll post some pics later in my journal...thank goodness we're used to threadjacking around here!!!!
