Apartment living!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrr
For those who do not know, I live on the 5th floor of an apartment building. The old lady that lives below me called me today (don't know how she got my phone number) but this is the conversation.
Her: This is Mrs Davis downstairs from you. What are you sawing?
Me : Sawing? I'm sitting here at my computer
Her: Well, I know you are sawing something because I can hear you?
Me: Mrs Davis, as I said, I am sitting at my computer.
Her: Well, someone is sawing out on your deck directly over me because I can hear them.
Me: (Blood pressure now raising) Well, perhaps someone moved in here last night when I wasn't looking and brought their tools with them.
Her: Are you telling me you can not hear a saw and hammer?
Me: Yes, I've heard someone working today. It's summer time and all the windows are open. I can also hear garbage trucks, kids playing, loud mufflers, and dogs barking? Who cares? It's 1 PM in the afternoon.
Her: Well, I'm going outside and look at the balony's and see if I can see what's going on.
Me: Ok. Don't hurt yourself.

Oh boy. Stuff like that makes me homicidal. I'll stay in the country, or become a serial killer. Haha!

I've noticed that people HATE it when you point out how stupid they are, so now I try to do it politely.

Maybe it will be quiet enough for her once she is dead?

Yep apartment living is annoying at times. Have a couple living next to me that wakes up the whole building with their yelling and fighting, followed by him revving the engine in the car then peeling out. Is always funny, seemed to fight a few times each month. I didn't have cable tv so this is my form of entertainment. Had another neighbour with an annoying dog that seems to never stopped barking, they ended up getting evicted from too many complaints. Think the most annoying thing is I don't get to sleep in often, the groundskeepers here that start mowing the lawn and pruning the shrubs at like 8 in the freaking morning. Can't wait till I move back.

Home ownership is a whole lot better, but not all the time:
My sister had to move from her home because of a totally unreasonable neighbor who kept complaining about her dog when he would sometimes bark during the daytime.
My sister got the boxer because someone had broken into her house while she was at work and burglarized it.
The lady was a day-sleeper, true. However, my sister tried putting a muzzle on the dog for awhile, but couldn't keep it on all the time, as that wasn't fair to the dog. And he found ways of getting it off him.
When the muzzling wouldn't work, Sis calmly pointed out to this neighbor that a set of earplugs would work wonders for her sleeptime. The lady had no intention of even trying to meet my sister halfway, and threatened to sue her over the dog. So, sis purchased a house way out in the country, packed up the dog and moved.
As poetic justice, the people who bought her former home had motorcycles which they revved in the driveway and rode around on them.
I'll bet the lady wishes the oft-muzzled dog was back! Serves her right!

My neighbors can't seem to speak to each other at a normal volume. I live in a mobile home park, though, not an apartment. And there are times it's like living next to the set of the world's angriest sitcom. Shouting at the top of their lungs, f-bombs liberally flying everywhere, even at the children.

The temptation to put a speaker in the window facing the noisy neighbors and blare something like Nightwish's "Ghost Love Score" or DragonForce's "Last Journey Home" is occasionally overwhelming, but I have yet to actually follow through
