Thread: Dying Snails

  1. Default Dying Snails

Three of six snails have recently died. I don't know why. They're in a fifty gallon tank with gouramis, tiger barbs, and danios. I haven't changed anything in the tank recently, nor added anything that wasn't in there before.

  2. Default

Params? Include hardness and ph please.
10 gallon with a veiltail betta, 7 neons, 1 ADF, and one neat moss ball.

20 gallon with 6 female black phantoms, and 1 schwartzi cory

Are these snails by any chance in a tank that was ever treated for ick with medication that contained copper? If so, AND if your water perimeters are otherwise all right, that may be the problem. Copper kills snails and copper can remain in a tank (in the substrate, silicone, filters, etc) for a very, very long time.
