Christmas came a little early to our house yesterday
While at the SW LFS, I ran into a fellow hobbyist trying to rehome some fish after a tank crash. To make a long story short, I got a bunch of new fish. I got a black volitan lion fish and Fu Manchu dwarf lionfish. Both are settling in nicely.
I managed to feed both of them last night. It takes a lot of effort to get the Fu Manchu to get, but he is eating. The volitan has already made himself right at home and within 5 hours was swimming around the tank like he has been there for years. The Fu Manchu is still pretty shy spending most of his time hiding in the rocks, but at least he his moving around in the shadows checking out all the hiding spots in the tank.
All three of these lion fish are about ½ grown right now. Once the russels and volitan reach there fully grown adult size, I will have to move one of them into the 180 as this tank would most likely be too small for the both of them. At least this will give me about 8 months to a year to get a god idea of their personalitys to move the best suited one into the 180.
This is the best pic of the Fu Manchu that I could get

Below is a pic of the black volitan

And of course a full tank pic

Gah, I'd be scared to put my hand in...have you ever been stung? Beautiful fish though.

No, I have not been stung. They only do that as a defense. If you keep an eye on them when you have your hands in the tank, and don't spook or corner them, you have nothing to worry about.

It took about 10 minutes of effort, but I got the Fu Manchu to eat again. This is a really good sign as he is still getting use to the tank and is not really acting like himself yet. I'm really looking forward to him getting used to the tank and being less shy.
The black volitan did eat like a little pig again tonight. He is adapting very very well. Better than I would have imaginedIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
