My LFS is ordering me a couple marimo moss balls and i have a couple questions.

    1. Do i need to do a dip on them when i get them?
If so what kind of dip?

    2. I am going to qt them in a 1 gallon tank i have. Do i need to use water out of my main tank to qt them or use new water?

    3. How long should i qt them?

Generally speaking one doesn't QT plants, just fish.

If you are worried about snails, there are a couple of different options of dips you can try, alum, or bleach. The bleach dip can be rather harsh on some plants, I don't know as I'd go that route with marimo balls.

If you are worried about algae... marimo balls are actually a type of algae.

I hope this isn't too late... All you do with Marimo balls is rinse them with old tank water, give them a gentle squeeze, and dump them in your tank. A bleach dip might kill the ball. As for snails you can easyily spot them if they are on the balls but I never see my snails go near them for some reason.

    +1 to the above

The last time I had moss balls, I just rinsed them in old tank water before putting them in the tank
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
