  1. Question bad batch of spotted cory's

    anyone struggled with spotted cories?

the distributor has had "trouble" getting the cory's into petco, so when they finally came in, I jumped at the opportunity.

    Bought six.
    after 3 days, I'm down to 3.

1 was "swimming" and just doing spirals all over tank, very eractic and the fish just didnt look mentally there-so I had to put him under
the other two, tails have been nipped, then the body goes white and they are done for.

is is the cory's or other fish in the tank bullying him?
    I only have a EBR/dwarf gourami, 13 silvertip tetras/bn pleco.

Sometimes shipments come in that weren't handled or stored properly. The fish by then have endured so much stress especially due to overcrowding that they are on their last leg by the time they hit the store.

    Default Corys

I was at my petsmart a couple of weeks ago on a Friday and they had 3 dead corys in one of the tanks. I pointed this out and was told that they get their new fish shipments on Tuesdays. Sounds like the same thing that happened to you, only they hadn't been purchased yet.

That's why sometimes it's better to wait a few days after their shipment to get some fish.

touche, I just got so dang excited that they finally got them in. Impulse buy and now I paid the price. Bummer.

Their shipments come in on friday, so I should wait until what, monday/tues to purchase them?

Yeah, sounds about right... even more true with shrimp... If you go to a mom and pop type place, sometimes they'll let you pay for the fish and leave them there for a couple of days just so that everything checks out.

I wish we had a mom and pop store like that.
We just have petco and some fancy lfs that specializes in cichlids.

I'll wait a few days the next time, make sure the strongest survive and get to my tank.
