Can't find anything that is reasonable or can't find what you want the hear? The fact is, a 20 gallon is not suitable for a GT long term. He is tiny now, but he will start to grow and will need a much bigger tank. If you can't get it a bigger tank, then rehome it and find fish that are suitable for a 20 gallon. It's not what you want to hear, but it is reasonable advice.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

1.5" is way too small to sex, you'll have to wait for 3-4" to be able to see any differences in male or female.
You'll find a world of difference when breeding cichlids (except for convicts....anyone can breed a convict, just add water.)

Take it back to the shop and when you get a suitable tank you can get a group and wait for them to grow and pair off.
This is how you get a pair anyway as mentioned and you cannot have two 8" [your researched size] fish in a 20g anyway.

Once they reach around 4 inches you will be able to tell the male from the female because he will have brighter colors than the female and start to grow a nuchal hump.
