how many oscars i can buy for a 50 gallon tank?
I have a 50 gallon tank , so I am planning to make it a oscar aquarium. So how many oscars I can put into this tank ? I will probably buy medium sized oscars like 6-8 inches.I will purchase within 2 days. please advice me.
Currently the tank is empty, with just 2 plecos in it. they are both 6 inch long.So will the oscars attack those plecos ?just asking.

None. they require a minimum tank size of 75 gallons for a single fish.

No oscar as already stated, but what type of plecos do you have?

IMO oscars are one of the main causes for 'multiple tank syndrome'. I'd love to own one!
How about different smaller cichlids? In a 50gallon I'd say you could have 5 bolivian rams 4 firemouths and maybe an angelfish, depending on how peaceful the firemouths are, they can be gentle giants or quite grumpy. My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

If your plecos are commons you will also need to find them new homes, depending on the specific species they can reach 12-18"+. There are many awesome cichlids for a 50G tank, sadly Oscars are not one of them. What are the dimmensions of the tank?

once I get a big enough tank, I think I'll have to get a firemouth. They must be good with all the lobbying ScottishFish does for them

lobbying for firemouths?
Me lobyying for the mighty firemouth? Never thought I spoke about them that much :-p hehe yeah I admit I'm a firemouth junkie!!!! Not a bad thing though is it? I will admit so far I've had a really lucky run with mine, got him when he was like an inch or so, so growing up with company he is in no way aggressive with aaaaany fish. He even got bullied by a dwarf gourami that was the same size as him!! Hehe big gentle giant really! Had him for around 2 and a half months now and he is around 2 inches!! Growing very quickly!

Lobbying for fish isn't bad, most people here do it. Like for harlequins or plecos or IMO the biggest fish lobbied for is some kind of ram, be it bolivian, gold or GBRs.
