Okay, so while making dinner I was talking to hubby about my filter question and he told me it's a Petcetera brand filter. (I had no idea Petcetera made filters!)

    Guess that answers my question!

Well, it's a good thing one of us actually paid attention to what was on the box, because I can't find ANY info about this thing on the internet anywhere!

Anyway, I'll probably follow Skarloey's Mom's advice and get a better filter at some point (just not right now as I'm still spending money on stuff like fish! ). Same goes for the light.

Thanks again for all the help, everyone!

After seeing the picture, I agree with Cocoa and the heater style agrees too. Looks like a Petcetera kit. Best advice, go back to Petcetera and get yourself a good Aquaclear filter (they have them cheap, as does Superpet/Petco and I'd go for an AC50 for your 20g). Also, that heater will only last you about half a year, so I'd go for a new one of those as well.

LOL...those are the 'cheapies' I was talking about...the ones I stuffed the extra sponge in to help out with.

Other than they're too small (which is why I'll be upgrading to the AC30 for the smaller tanks when they go) I also find that the lip for water return hangs too far down into the tank, so you CAN'T fill the tank up to the brim (don't like the look of that - always appears to me like I forgot to top it off).

But mechanically? Can't complain. They are quiet and easy enough to keep clean.

Don't know if you get the same sales in Canada but if you watch the online shops you can get really good deals from time to time. I just got my AC 20 for $13.99 on sale from PetSmart online. I think they are usually $25 bucks. I just checked and they are still running this sale online. Also at U.S PetSmarts if you bring a print out of a current PetSmart online sale item they will give you that price in the store so you save the shipping. Their sale prices online are much better than the in-store prices most of the time. You might want to call you're local PetSmart and see if they would give you the same deal.

I'm not sure where the nearest PetSmart is, but I'll find out. Maybe Petcetera has the same kind of deal?

    Thanks!

Since our dollar is now at par with your dollar, I think alot of us will be spending more money in the US.
