Why do most people don't grow Pennywort in their tank?
Hi I grow pennywort (Hydrocotyle) in my pond, and I think it is so beautiful to furnish the tank. Its leaves are so green and soothing my eyes. Why don't most people keep it in their tanks? mostly we like crypt, moss, anubias, etc.
This is my pennywort; it is fully submerged.

Because ponds do not have filterings raining down water on the Pennywort sending it all over in the tank. Same reason many of us don't have other types of floating plants. Also, some do not want their other plants blanketed in shade.
My Pennywort is tied to my driftwood underwater and growing to the top of the tank so it doesn't get blasted by the filters.Last edited by Lady Hobbs; 08-20-2012 at 06:19 PM.

I have it in two of my tanks, and I love it!!! Mine is all anchored in the substrate, and grows to the top of the tank.

I've noticed that people HATE it when you point out how stupid they are, so now I try to do it politely.

I no longer have it, because pulling ten gallons of it out of a 75g tank each week got old.

Floating plants do good for certain tanks with certain types of fish. For most planted aquariums, unless the light is excessive, floating plants would just hinder things for the plants that one can actually see.
