It's a bit hard to tell from the picture but it does look like it might be a baby jaguar cichlid, also known as an Aztec cichlid. The scientific name is parachromis manaquensis.
If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

Common names suck for distinguishing cichlids. It could very well be a baby Jag especially with the predominant mark down the side. My only qualm with that is the fish's body is more rounded, even at small sizes Jags are streamlined. However you did state it was a mix...so that could play a role. But do keep in mind many baby cichlids go through a phase of looking just like that. Ive reared Rainbow cichlids which looked just like that for a period of time.

It also doesn't have the distinctive markings on the gill plate, like the attached pictures.

Doviis are really a beautiful fish that is best kept alone considering their sharp teeth. If that is a male, I would get at least a 240g simply because of the waste output. They have the potential to get past 24".
