Me... I found on google when researching rubber lip plecos, for all I know the numbers are out dated.... but the only real differences of the L187, L187a, L187b are style of markings. The L187b's body is stripped and the other 2 are spotted.... I myself can't really tell a L187 from a L187a.... A guide on rubber lip pleco care made note there are 3 types and I googled each.

planetcatfish has the numbers pretty well defined.
It looks to me like a 187a, which is mid-large spots all down the body. The 187b / L-444 tends to be a more solid body coloration with blobby large patches that are lighter. And the L187/ L443 tends to be a more freckled all over his body with potentially some larger blobby colorations.
At least thats what looks like the differences to me!

Well today being the exceptionally desirable "peas" day.... I got you a slightly better pic of my Gold Nugget... whom we call the highly imaginative "Spot"

Not to be outdone... the rubbernose countered with this "Scotti-special"

Yes... my tank is definately in need of its scheduled maint coming tomorrow....
