Hey everyone, I figured I'd drop a quick update since it's been a while.

I haven't been working on the tank any... just been so busy with the new baby. First, all the preparation before she was born, and now all the helping my wife take care of her now that she's here. My ability to save money has decreased a bit too for a variety of reasons, but I'm still putting away at least SOME money each month. I've probably got enough to level the tank stand, and, assuming that works, get started on the plumbing. Just a question of when I'll have time.

    Wow!

It truly has been awhile since I've been here. I see you've come a long way to a 300 gallons mega tank now. I can't wait to see it up and running.

Congrats on the tank and the new baby. Hope all is well.

    Spardas! You ARE alive!

Brhino - we all understand the baby takes priority. Good luck and I am happy to see this thing progress as time goes.

Well, I was finally ready to try to level the tank stand... got the supplies and everything. I was just waiting for a weekend day when I had time.

...and then I pulled a muscle in my back. I can't lift 60 pound buckets of leveling compound, or one end of a 225 pound fish tank, until I heal up. Hopefully in a few weeks. The good news is that I've got a good chunk of money saved up, so I'm going to try to get the plumbing design worked out and the parts ordered while I wait. Need to sketch up my plans and run them past the experts.

I'm looking forward to reading about the planned progress once your able
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

My pump arrived today. It's a beast. It's setting next to a 10 gallon tank for comparison in this photo:

Now I need to plan out how exactly I'm getting from here to the flanges on the bottom of the tank (which also arrived). Ideally at this point I'd put the sump in the stand and do a dry run that way, but unfortunately with my back the way it is I can't be hauling around a 75g tank either. I'm sure they'll be some snafus along the way... never done a plumbing project without at least two trips to the hardware store.

Wow, "beast" may be an understatement for that big pump!...and I can sympathize with the back problems, I have had chronic back pain on and off again for years...really limits what you can do, or even feel like doing
