  1. Default Cory Panda Sterile??

    Hi peeps,
Have any of you heard of cory Pandas being sterile?. I have 2 that breed all the time in my tank. I see them do the T position and everything. But i have tried to hatch the eggs and they never turn any colour, they just stay kinda clearish and they are still the same 7 days later.

    Any advice?

would love to hatch these cool critters!

has anyone heard of this before?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Default

It could be. Fish nowadays tend to be quite inbred and so it is possible for some to have
genetic defects such as sterility. It could also be that one or both of your cories still isn't fully mature and is producing non-viable eggs/milt. Or, some factor in your tank is killing the eggs early on.

  3. Default

They spawn in an unusual manor.

The female grasps the males genitals with her mouth and pulls semen out and into her mouth and expells it back through her gills onto her eggs that she is clasping with her fins. She is very inefficient. In most cases two males are needed per female because the poor guy just runs out of the go go juice .

    Weird but true.

  4. Default

Thanks for your info, maybe i need to try and get another couple and see what happens. They are quite tricky to get hold of where i live.

They have been breeding for about 5 months and getting more regular i.e every 2 weeks now. So i am guessing they both are old enough. They do the T business and everything with the little lady sucking (hopefully) milt.

Maybe i will wait a few months more and try again with the eggs.

many thanks for your speedy replies
