Are women's pantyhose safe to use in filters? Could I use one as a filter bag?

Yes & yes provided it is clean [unused preferably] and has not been laundered in any detergents.
    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

I have some they are clean but they were washed in a detergent. The detergent is not a normal one it is melapower. Its ingredients are Biodegradable anionic and plant derived nonionic surfactants, solubilizer, fragrance, brigting agent, and preservative

Rinse in old tank water anyway before putting in your fish tank, just in case.

OR... Instead of wondering aloud if all that stuff is safe, Simply go buy a new cheap generic set of panty hose.

Or spend 2$ at the LFS for a mesh bag.

When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything Happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
A moderator on a fish forum should be able to identify an oscar... Don't you think?

I bought knee highs when I needed nylons for something. Get them at the dollar store. But for all things I did not find them useful. They are woven very tightly and also tend to clog up if not keep rinsed off. For some things they are fine.

I've used these but they clogged up with mulm-type muck. I ended up buying some net bags with zipper openings. They lasted me 10 years + so worth the minor outlay. I think it might depend on your filter though.

The old type fishnet hose would work better. Doubt they even make them anymore.

What ever you do... if the clerk says something along the lines of how nice you are for buying those for your girlfriend/wife, shut up and agree. Do NOT come back with "oh these are for me". Trust me on this... or you'll end up with a nickname like "Nylons" like me...
