  1. Default Carbon Filter during cycling

    0 Not allowed!
Does anyone recommend leaving out the carbon filter during cycling? I got the Aqua Clear filter everyone recommended here, I am doing a fishless cycle on a 5.5 gallon tank, I got the Seachem, and everything else you all recommended but am not sure about the carbon filter.

    I'd Leave it out.

In fact, I don't run carbon on a regular basis in any tank. You can utilize the space for more bio-max if needed.
    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

I doubt it will make any difference, it won't absorb nitrogen cycle biproducts. Ammonia and nitrite so should not affect the cycling.

Why waste it, leave it out till the cycle is complete.

Unusually I have nothing more to add...

Carbon is only good for removing medications from a tank. And tannins if you don't like tea colored water.
