Went to a fish show yesterday and came home with 10 rili shrimp. I know they will interbreed but that's ok with me.

After drip acclimating them over two hours I had absolutely no problems introducing them to the tank.

This is one of the paler ones.

Cheers, yeah it'll be interesting to see what the hybrids look like if they do breed when they mature.

How much did you pay for the rili? I've been looking for some alternatives to go in with my cherries but hard to find over here and any I do find are wild in price. 6quid for 1.

At "Aquatics Live!" in London, I got 10 for 30 which I thought was good value.

The company that was selling them can be found here: http://www.freshwatershrimp.co.uk/

Did some maintenance on the nano tonight. Glass needed a good clean so I did a few extra things as well. I took the filter out completely and took it apart, washing each section in a few litres of tank water. I cleaned the impeller for the first time...whoops, it was really covered in brown slime. I used some interdental brushes (ones used for your teeth!) to clean in all the little nooks and crannies in the filter. Worked well.

I gave the heater a good clean and wiped algae from the back wall before putting everything back in. Jeez do the shrimp get in the way all the time - they're so nosey! Every two minutes one was swimming onto the back of my hand to start "cleaning" it.

When I put the heater back I put it vertically behind the "tree" instead of how it was before (diagonally). I think it just about hides it. Better?

    Here's a rili shrimp.

I gave the alternanthera another prune and replanted the cuttings. I don't know how many times I can get away with doing this, but I'd like a bushy back wall rather than letting them grow tall.

Here's a side view. I gave the tree another trim, but only a short back and sides this time so it doesn't cast too much shade - I'll leave the top to get a bit taller.

The front lawn...lol. I haven't cut it this week.

Another rili doing its thing. I think I might have some black beard algae growing on the moss - all those little brown flecks in it. Hmmm...not sure what to do about that.

And here's a cherry eating a shed skin. Yummy.

    One of the sakura cherries.

The cryptocoryne beckettii seems to be doing well. I cut off a few old leaves.

Feeding time...all the cherries eat together...

    ...and the rilis eat together...
