The Amazing (Exasperating) Color-Changing Betta
One of my female bettas, Echo, cannot seem to settle on a color for her scales. Seriously. I've been watching her changing color slowly over the last eight or nine months. We human females are known for always changing clothes (according to some people), but bettas?
Some of the highlights...
This is what Echo looked like when I brought her home:

This is Echo about four months ago:

And this is Echo as of a half hour ago:

Yes, all three are the same fish (though Ruby, in the last pic, is a different she-fin entirely, obviously). For Primus' sake, Echo, pick a color and stick with it!

I reckon that's awesome! I love fishes that change all the time! Believe it or not, but I had a swordtail that changed colours. It was also female. She changed from a deep blue to almost black to a greenish colour.

This color change is a very slow process. It took her about a month and a half for her to complete the change from brown to white. I have a picture of her when she was literally half brown and green and half white. If she turns completely purple it'll probably take her another few months to finish

That is really nice! I think that kind of thing makes the hobby something really special, you know?

Update on Echo's slow chameleon abilities...

Give her another three months and she might be entirely purple

Wouldn't it be cool if you could set up a camera and get her on time lapse!

It'd be interesting. But she's a hide-a-betta or see-me-not a good half the time >> Lots more active than she was in the other tank (now that there are no bigger females teasing her and the Pink Nutball is on the other side of a wall), but still a shy little she-fin
