My Zebra Danio exploded
okay so over the past 3 days ive noticed my Zebra Danios stomach got really big and very red, like it looked like it was full of little red balls. He seemed fine, swimming around and eating normally than i came home and found him on te bottom of the tank and his stomach exploded.
theres one other zebra danio in the tank that is fine, but is new. and one fighter whos colour seems to be fading.
if anyone can tell me what happened that would be much appreciated, thanks.

My goldfish is also swelling, and I gather that he is ill, but can anyone please tell me what kind of illness this is, and also how to cure it :). Thanks

Most likely the fish died from other issues and the other fish pecked at the body till the abdomen opened. We will need more information about the tank. Tank size, water parameters etc.

on a side note, most fish who dont normally eat live food will eat dead food. they were probably picking at his body and ripped his stomach open.

Check your water parameters and post - that could help determine the cause. Add size of tank and filtering system as well as other fish.

A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is fifteen Sterba's Corys. Filters: canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber that removes phosphates and nitrates! Also, a highly dangerous commercial nitrate removal unit from hell
