Default i can go 3 ways with my new 55g...

ok so heres what i wanted to do with my 55g.
    (1) 2 leopard bush fish, 1 paradise, 1 striped raph cat, and 1 pleco (bn or rubber lip)
come friday if its not reasonable to buy a pair of leopards i will most likely ditch that idea. im also having 3rd and 4th thoughts about it

something im looking into doing instead.
    (2) making a 55g tank to breed gbrs in, this i will be needing a lot more research and some moving of plants

    or,

    (3) i was thinking a community tank with an angel fish, some small fish, my raph cat, and a pleco.

no matter what the set up i need to either place my striped raph, or rehome her. she is getting a bit too big for my 29g..... would like to keep her.

what would you do? the community tank would be easiest and give some nice movement.

but the gbr tank would be so cool if i could breed them would just need to find homes for them all but i know of a few places that will give me store credit or cl. also i would be up for a challenge.

the first tank im thinking might be a bit boring. was thinking of weening the bushfish onto pellets or frozen and feed them home grown guppies and rcs (i have a rcs farm, not guppies yet)

Option 2 seams really interesting. But that is likely due to the fact I have never kept those fish. That and I really like store credit
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I voted for the first idea. It's something nice and different. BUT, I wouldn't add the Paradise fish. Nasty pieces of work.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark

i wouldnt mind keeping them either, when i was young that and sword tails are all i ever wanted. but i think i grew out of it a bit. i would love to do an angel with breeding GBRs but im 99% sure the angel will try to eat the fry and cause lots of problems lol

after some more reading, if i do the GBR tank, i might have the following stock:
1 pair of GBR, 15 harlequin rasboras, 6 otos (might not if algae isnt an issue) i might up the GBRs to 2 pair, but i dont want an explosion in pop.... im thinking the harlequins will stay smallish and stay near the top of the tank, and the GBRs will have the rule over the tank. my raph might be getting rehomed.... sadly i dont think she would do good in the 80' ish water with the higher lights.....

You've got quite a bit of experience. I think you should not walk away from this challenge and just do this.

And let's face it, breeding GBR doesn't need to happen in a tank with all the charm of a holding cell. You can make it look nice.
3 potted plants and 6 strings of plastic do not make a planted tank!
