Congrats on your new little ones :) You never know the black one could be stunning :P

My LFS will take mine when they are big enough to easily catch. But on the sad note they will drop them in the adoption tank...and who knows what fish will be in there to probably eat them :(

So now I have to decide what I'm going to do..... There is about 30 or 35 in my 10 gallon fry tank...they need more room! So I am thinking about buying a 25 gallon next month. I don't want them eaten and I don't trust giving them to someone who claims they know how to take care of fish on Craigslist.com. And i love my goldfish so their 37 gallon isn't available....sighs ~ decisions :(

I would just pick up a 5 gallon tank and put mommy in there. I got one around here that I paid $7 for (new) and added a cheap sponge filter. Easier to put mommy in a breeder before she gives birth.

I like the idea of the marina hang on breeding box, saw it on an online store. Think it would work as a mini invert tank or for acclimating. I don't like using the breeding boxes of any sort for fish that are about to drop fry, they tend to stress fish out more. I agree with the rest of the folks better off getting a small tank or even a plastic bin. Add in an air stone or small filter and some water from the tank, makes for a good short duration holding area.

If you are worried about startling fish in the breeding box, can just cover the sides of the box with something.

Wouldn't you need a heater in the 5 gallon tank?
