should i stop dosing my ferts?
my new planted tank is allready getting algae. nothing serious but i think its because my plants arent using all the ferts ive been adding on a weekly schedule. should i cut them in half and see how that does? atm im dosing a full does of api c02 daily and a weekly dose of 5mls (just shy actually) a week on my 55g tank. im dosing the co2 because theres not much surface movement, and its unstocked.

How heavily is it planted? How long are the lights on for? What kind of algae?

A small DIY CO2 could take care of it most likely.

well i was reading that with the more higher light demanded lights i should be timing 10/12 hrs a day for light. i figured 11 is a good middle ground.

Try a siesta of 90 minutes on that. Cut down the ferts by 1/3 and see what happens.

Higher light means 3-4 watts per gallon. Not less more hours a day. None of your plants are high light plants but medium light, anyway.
Cut your lighting back to about 8 hours a day. Dose half doses perhaps 2 times a week. Forget CO2. It would take 5 -6 bottles of the stuff to do a 55 gallon. You have small plants and those small plants do not require all those ferts.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

Could also break up your photo period... 4 on, 2 off, 4 on again could do the trick... or get some shrimp...
