SAE with Black Skirts and BN Plecos
Right now I have a 90 gallon tank that is sitting mostly empty with 15 Black Skirt Tetras and 2 BN Plecos.
Everything I've read about Siamese Algae Eaters says this should be a fine match. However I've also read that they can nip the fins of slower fish, so in that case I am a little worried about the Black Skirts. 1 of the 15 is a long fin variety, so I'm worried about that one in particular.
Basically I'm wondering if 2 or 3 SAE's would be a good idea. Also I'm a little worried about mixing an Asian fish with two South American fish.
If anyone has kept SAE's with Black Skirt Tetras before you would be extremely helpful.
PS: Also part of me wants to add a betta to this tank at some point in the future. If I got the SAE's I'm assuming the betta would be out of the question. Right?

I will not add another algae eater to that tank, you already have 2 plecos.
Though to answer the question, SAEs are peaceful, they don't nip anyone and does prefer to be in a school.
Adding a betta is not advisable especially with black skirts. Black skirts are a little nippy.Da name's Paul. Not Dave. ROFL
Learn to give and take. That's how things should always work.

Are there plants in the tank? If you have plants, I would add SAE's to help with the algae. Pleco's will do nothing about algae on plants. Agree that SAE's are great fish. Now the Chinese Algae eaters are kinda snotty to smaller fish altho I don't think they nip fins but they do chase.
