    Celeste did that a couple of years ago...but 'only' had some 300+ quills...the ones we didn't get pulled out at the vet, or the ones that broke off, worked their way out over the next few weeks...I was pulling quill bits for what seemed like forever...

    And certain dogs get what the vet called 'porcupine rage'. In other words, they don't learn...they'll do it again and again...

    I also had to pull quills out of one of our horses...it was only 3 I recall...but a dog is a lot easier to sit on than a horse...er, for the purpose of pulling quills out of muzzles...

    My shepard got nailed once too but he was smart enough to come crying to mama after just a few quills. He didn't like me much the first week after I yanked them out of his lip.
