Pond Fish Going CRAZY

That is common behaviour and will work itself out it is stressfull as the fish being chased get very little rest and it can wear them out,to death as you have seen. When you say fancy,do you mean long taial sarassa comets like the red and white ones? I don't see any fancy tail goldys in that vid and whatever you do don't add any. They cannot competed with commons and comets. What you are seeing is males chasing around the fems and it does settle down after a few months. You are not overstocked and you do not need water changes,get mcrobelift spring summer pond cleaner packs and use them as directed. Do you have a biofilter you runt the water through,if not you need about 5 gallons worth.
Plz do not be tempted to stock koi,they get far too large for that size pond.

They are chasing the females. That's my guess, but if the females aren't ready and full of eggs, all you'll see is beat up fish and injuries.

I agree with smaug after seeing the video. I thought prior to the video they were being hunted down and murdered but you can see it's mating behavior. Gez........they remind me of danio's !!!!! Determined!

I also now agree with the water changes previously mentioned. My thoughts were you had a small pond and obviously you do not. Smaug has a stocked pond so he knows what he's talking about and why I hoped some pond people would respond to help ya.

I wonder if you should add more females?

The chasing is something that happens when newbies are first added,sort of a fresh meat syndrome! When I didnt know much about goldys I added fancytails to my pond with established comets,it was a rape scene,the poor fancys actually got lifted up out of the water,I caught them all out and added them back in a few days later at night 1 at a time. It worked to save there life but they still got harassed pretty bad.

Perhaps why fantails and commons should not be together? You know how you guys are when a pretty girl walks into a room full of doggy- looking women.

well thanks guys for all the info, it seems this morning the 5 day crazy has subsided. i have been looking a lot into breeding habits and behaviors. i have noticed on the larger 3 fish they all seem to be the males as they have the tiny white pimples on the gill flaps. i did also separate one of the fish that was being beaten for a few hours so it could regain strength seemed to do the job he/she got left alone.
