WOW!! That's one heck of a batch of fry! Are the Texas Cichlids good parents? Like, do they look after the fry really well, or do they eat quite a few of them?
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark

Thank you everyone.
Jenn, there is always time to get a new tank set up.
Escamosa, they are great parents. In fact I was very entertained last evening watching the female grab up the strays and spit them back into their pit. So far she is watching over the little ones and he is guarding her. Anyone who comes out of hiding is chased back.If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

When I read My 120 gallon tank is destroyed I thought oh no, it broke? Then I saw your pictures and laughed right out loud. What a trip this will be getting those little things raised.

LOL Hobbs, the title was on purpose to get people to look.
Crispy I actually have two pair and two oddball Texas in that tank, 6 in total. By all accounts it should have been a massacre in there a year ago. But I got them all at the same time and the biggest of them was just under half an inch big. They were still very young fry when I put them in the tank. Was kinda funny seeing 6 tiny fish in a 120g. Throughout their juvie stage they worked out the pecking order and territories and have respected each others space since.
I never planned on keeping all 6 and I still plan on getting rid of at least two or three of the adults and all of the fry. Even though nitrates are never over 15ppm and water quality is always pristine, 120 gallons just isn't big enough for 6 full grown Texas. I was waiting for some to pair up or aggression issues to make my decision. There has never been any real aggression, but now that I have the two pair it will be easier to make the decision on who to keep.If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
