  1. Default help identify a black fish

    0 Not allowed!
I have a garden pond with Comet Goldfish and a Shubinkin. However I have now spotted a totally black one which I simply cannot identify.

It seems to spend a lot of time at the bottom of the pond. But now that it's warming up it does come up for a feed.

It's the totally black fish in the photos in the link above, not the black and white Shubinkin that I am trying to identify.

    Any help would be appreciated.

it's hard to make out any particular details of the fish. I would assume it's just a black-colored goldfish unless something indicates otherwise.

Sort of looks like a young pacu. If you could net it, then a proper ID would be easy

Kind of just looks like a bronze comet.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark

yup,or wild strain color comet. Thats the natural color of what a true goldfish looks like. I caught one out of my pond and kept it in a tank for a few days,it was beautiful, actually gold on the sides not the orange color thats sold as goldfish. If your lucky you get a cygnet like this one

I have one very much like this and its a stunner for the brief moments I see it.
