Picture of one of my cory fry
I have 3 cory fry growing up in my tank, but only 1 is in these photos. Sorry the photos are not crisp. Mostly it shows size perspective with an adult. These are photos of one of the 3 males, not the big female mama.
My adults have laid eggs for 3 years in this tank but this is the first time a couple fry in the tank have ever been spotted and even thrived. The three are showing more cory mannerisms each day! So much fun!

I've had my loaches for 5 years at least and not once have them had babies. Nor have my bristlenose or featherfins. What's up with that?
But what am I seeing in the pictures that is black? Is that black beard algae?Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

Good to hear from you, Lady Hobbs. I have not posted in awhile. Guess I need to research what black beard algae is. I don't know. I do scrub off algae every tank cleaning, off leaves and ornaments. It is dark brown. One corner of the back wall is always black.
I think the main reason these fry survived was the hiding places. Lots of dense plants - most of it low anubias. And the rock castle which the 4 adult cory have taken over. In my tank I used to have in Germany it was only in the eggs laid on the inside walls of the castle that fry survived, hovering around the dark edges of the inside wall for weeks.

Lady Hobbs - there are 2 pink fish in the top photo which are white cloud mountain minnows. I posted that one also in the Other fish Other section. They were sold to me as golden but I think they are meteor. Check my other post and let me know your thoughts if you agree they may be meteor??

About a year ago I scraped some eggs off the glass and transferred them to a little bowl treated with anti-fungal. I carefully hatched and grew about 6 fry to a little less than these guys are. I introduced them to the big bowl. One was eaten immediately in front of me, and the others never survived much longer. I gave up then. I couldn't be happier now!
Thanks for all the congrats!
