Haitian Reef Anemone EATS ITS MAROON CLOWN HOST!!!!!!!!!!
The other day I asked a pet store clerk about ideas on how and what to feed my anemone, because I was tired of using a syringe and sticking my whole arm in the tank, asked her about silversides and why they're bad.
She suggest that I could try plump fw fish because there not the feeder fish that are... just that malnourished feeder fish as someone else does that. She gave me a molly to try cause someone dropped a bunch off.
It ate it. two to three days later my maroon clown is gone and the anemame has moved to the other side of the rock. He has never moved the entire time I had him. I A. need to feed him more, or B. get rid of him cause I don't want him to eat my other fish. This SW stuff is trial and error for sure!72 gallon saltwater

I suppose I should add that the clown has hosted and protected the anamen since day one and its been about 3-4 weeks since I have had them both

Yeah, it's BS LOL Hope the red legged crabs don't get it now that the maroon clown isn't there to protect it. He was a mean clown too. which don't vibe with with the 5 other peaceful fish I have in the tank. Oh well. I need to find out if I feed it more if it will leave other fish alone. I haven't been feeding it silversides cause I read it's bad. But I can't have him eating my fish either.

I know nothing about Salt Water, but that is very interesting post, I thought Clown fish and Anemone loved each other.

Aggressive anemones like yours will eat almost anything it can fit into it's mouth. My carpet anemone (which is said to be just as aggressive as your condy) has eaten many snails and all of my peppermint shrimp. If my clown fish were not fully matured and grown, I'm sure the anemone would have eaten at least one of them by now as well
(IMO) This is to be expected when the anemone starts to grow getting closer to it's fully matured size, Condys are also said to like to move around the tank a lot, just as much (if not more) than RBTAs.
What size of tank do you have him in right now ?Last edited by Cliff; 07-17-2012 at 12:50 PM.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

He's in my 72. He's on the right side pretty much on the bottom of the tank attached to the same rock the whole time. I read your article about anemones, mainly the feeding part and it was 6 of 1, half of dozen of the other as far as how often to feed him. I feed him every few days or so.
