Had to get a new filter...
My power filter just kicked the bucket on my 10g tank so I ran out and bought an AquaClear 30 to replace it. In order to make sure my cycled tank doesn't go crazy I removed the carbon from the old bio bag and placed the bio bag into my new filter. My question is this: How long should I keep the old bio bag in there? It isn't falling apart but it's pretty dirty and, despite my best efforts to rinse it in aquarium water, it does slightly slow down the flow of water from the filter.
Thanks in advance.

About 2 weeks should be fine, then you can remove the old media.

I would try to leave it for a month to let the new media get all seeded up.

+1 to LadyG. I had a filter run on a tank for 3 weeks, and turns out that wasn't long enough!!!!!!
130g: 7 Angelfish, 1 Bolivian, 12 Neon Tetras, 14 Serpae Tetras, 9 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Otocinslus, 1 Corydora ? Ghost Shrimp
I've noticed that people HATE it when you point out how stupid they are, so now I try to do it politely.
