GBR Babies!!!!!!!!
My GBR are parents!!!!! I noticed the male, Popeye, was hanging out behind the driftwood for the last 2 days a lot. I told my gf today and she took a look and found BABIES!!!!
Soooo..... what DO I DO!!????
I bought a HOB breeder box two weeks ago just for this purpose but I doubt I will be able to get to them. The GBR pick a very tough spot to get too. Watching them Im not even sure I want to move them. Pops is looking after them so well. He is keeping them in a tight group and grabs them with his mouth when they get to far, just amazing
None of the other fish go anywhere near that spot.
What do I feed them? Do they eat green water??
When do I move them?
What am I going to do if they survive?? Oh dear it just dawn on me they might not survive
Anyways..... Please help me out.
I will post pic if I can ASAP.Roll the Dice!

So how are the babies today? Did you try feeding BBS? I ran out and got frozen BBS when my angel wrigglers became free swimming, but the parents started picking them off over the next three days. Still, it's exciting when you get even that far. Good luck with these.

No bbs. I bought NLS fry food this morning and they loved it. The parents are guarding and moving the babies all day long. All the other fish are staying on the other side of the tank. Thanks for the luck, I'm gonna need it.

All the fry are gone. At least I learned somethings. I learned that the pair of GBR will take turns watching and herding the fry. I learned how to feed the fry. Next time I will attempt to catch and place fry in a breeder box, eventually to their own tank.

Not sure. They disappeared over night. Well since then they have spawned again. I currently have two day old babies. Im waiting for them to be free swimming. Then i plan on using maybe a turkey baster to suck em up and transfers them in to an HOB breeder tank until i get a 10 gallon setup for them if they survive.
Does anyone have any suggestion on the best way to capture the fry?????Last edited by Gogi; 07-30-2012 at 08:34 PM.

When I got home from work today, I grab my turkey baster and sucked up the wigglers little by little and dumped hem nnthe breeder box. It has been about 5 hours since then and so far the wrigglers are still alive. I left half of the batch with the parents to see which survive.
