I need immediate help with treating my ancistrus claro
Hi,my Ancistrus has been almost motionless for 2 days now. Her belly is drawn in and she hasn't been eating since sunday. Today she began hiding herself upside down under objects. When she swims, she swims upside down.
Her eyes are drawn in as well. You can see it here -> http://www.image-share.com/ijpg-1611-259.html
Here you can see that she is not sucking the glass, she just puts her mouth up -> http://www.image-share.com/ijpg-1611-257.html
Here is her belly -> http://www.image-share.com/ijpg-1611-258.html
I need immediate help,I don't want to lose her. I think problem is parasites. How can I treat her ?

Sorry I don't know how new you are to the hobby. Have you tried water changes? Is your tank cycled? Bottom dwellers are hit first with poor water conditions.
10 gallon with a veiltail betta, 7 neons, 1 ADF, and one neat moss ball.
20 gallon with 6 female black phantoms, and 1 schwartzi cory

Your fish probably has an internal parasite, I would treat it with medications designed to get rid of those.
Did you introduce any new fish lately?
What are your water conditions?

You need to test your water first thing when you see a fish is not doing well. As already stated, bottom feeders should be the last to go in a tank and only in well seasoned tanks. Many of them simply starve to death in tanks that offer them nothing in food.
PS......What else is in the tank? Could something else be preventing him from eating properly?Last edited by Lady Hobbs; 07-13-2012 at 01:30 AM.
